Veteran singer SP Balasubramaniam said quality of songs had slipped to new lows in recent days. He also said singers are not being given due importance when compared to the period of MS Viswanathan and Ramamurthy.
Speaking at the audio launch of Prakashraj’s production venture Vellithirai in Chennai yesterday, the vocalist said quality of new songs could not be matched those of the yesteryear, eventhough several tracks are being used nowadays.
‘We don’t even know who sings along with us in duets. If we question, they ask us to sing our portion only,’ he said. Others took part in the function were MS Viswanathan and Ramamurthy, Vairamuthu, Prakashraj and Mohanlal.
