It’s celebration for the Tamil music world as two famous singers- P Suseela and Sirkazhi Sivachidambram have been selected for the coveted Padma awards.
In the long list of 135 persons who have been approved by the President of India for conferment of the Padma Awards-2008, it has been announced that P Suseela would be conferred with Padma Bhushan and Sivachidambaram would be honoured with Padma Sri.
Susheela, born on 13 November, 1935 has rendered voice in many languages including Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Sinhalese. She ruled the playback world for more than two decaded. Her most recent song is ‘Pottu Vaitha’ in Sila nerangalil.
