Tearful tribute from Shankar

Following is the condolence message of director Shankar, who shared a close relationship with Sujatha:

Sujatha is a simpleton genius and my most favorite writer. My heartfelt condolences to his family .His loss is not only for the world of words but for the film industry too.Starting from Indian, Mudhalvan, Boys, Anniyan and Sivaji I have worked along with him in five films .Though he had written dialogue for all these movies, an apt script that would have fed his potential is Robot .In my carrier I thought his best work would be in this film ,even he would say this was the project that was near and dear to him, But sadly before the completion of the project he left us all.

For every film discussion we used to go out of station for ten days, those are the most memorable and unforgettable days in my life. He will analyze the movement of the story ,its complication and its shortcoming beautifully .His thoughts were ever fresh and youthful like that of a college student. However big the content be, he will put them in a precise, modern and in an interesting manner. I have known him as my friend at sometimes and at other times as my teacher. He never longed for money. He never knew how to ask for his payment and even when asked will just say 'just give something'.

He will never hurt anybody and had the quality of respecting others. Wherever or with whoever may talent lay, he will identify and recognize them through magazines. He was a person who possessed immense strength and was never emotional; nothing could really shake him or shatter him. He was those rare persons who had no false pretence. Even when he had to get his open heart surgery done, never took the matter seriously and would just say 'cool n take it easy policy'.

When I call him and speak to him about my difficult problems, he would immediately give a simple solution for it and solve them for me in a second. If I thank him for the same, he would ask back and say 'why are you thanking me? You are like my son'.

His loss is not merely to his family but mine too. I am unable to take this loss either in a cool or in an easy manner.
-- Shankar
