Violence is a double-edged sword. This is the message director Lingusamy conveyed in Bheema, by taking toll of the lives of everyone, right from the hero to heroine to villains. Apart from delivering the message, the filmmaker has also throwed light into the bloodshed underworld, which is also a part of Chennai.
After a break of more than two years, a Vikram’s film has finally seen the light of the day. And beyond any doubt, Bheema is a real treat not only for Vikram but also for the starved fans of the actor.
Inspired by a do-gooder don Chinna (Prakashraj), Sekar (Vikram) joins his team. His brainy and brawny ways fetches him name and fame and he quickly becomes like a Bheema in Mahabharatham for the entire team of Chinna.
Periyavar (Raguvaran), a former boss of Chinna is the opponent now, thanks to the evil things he and his men involved in. A clash between the two gangs makes the Commissioner of Police (Asish Vidyarthee) to chalk out plans to finish off both the camps.
In the meantime, Sekar also encounters with Shalini (Trisha), a college student who falls for him. Had the police team tasted success in its mission or did Chinna and Sekar bumps off their rival gang forms the crux of the film, which is filled by two-third gunfights and one-third romance.
Vikram walks away with the cake as the actor plays the role with all ease and comfort. The two-year wait of the versatile actor is justified, one can say. It is not new for Trisha to do the role of a college who falls in love with the hero. She does the job of a chirpy and vivacious girl in a fitting way.
Needless to say, the ability of Prakashraj and Raguvaran is visible on screen, thanks to their experience in doing such roles. Asish Vidyarthi is an apt selection to play the top cop, who is an encounter specialist.
Harris Jeyaraj’s music and RD Rajasekar's camera adds vim and valour to Bheema. Lingusamy has once again proved that he can come out an out and out action entertainer. However, the film would have been more convincing, had the director cut violence in many of the scenes.
