It’s easy to satisfy a Vijay fan as all he need is his ‘Ilaya Thalapathi’ in full of action- shaking legs to fast numbers, bashing up villains and uttering punch dialogues. However, director Bharathan has taken a different route called Extra Sensory Perception (ESP), a thing that is quite uncommon for a typical Vijay film.

In other words, depending heavily on the charm and fan following of Vijay, Azhagiya Tamil Magan too may be considered as a yet another mass masala movie, had the director not concentrated in delivering a different story, that is, Vijay fighting with Vijay.

Coming to the storyline, Guru (Vijay) a management student and Abinaya (Shreya), daughter of a business tycoon (Ashish Vidyarthi) falls for each other. Meanwhile, Guru comes to know that he can foresee things through a unique power called ESP. He visualises some scenes, which become true in real life.

At one point, Guru comes to know that there is a danger to the life of his sweetheart from him. Though he is not ready to believe this, he leaves for Mumbai, heaping confidence on his power. There he is shocked to meet Prasad (another Vijay) and knows the real meaning of the incident visualised by him.

Who is Prasad? Did Guru save the life of his ladylove? You have to watch the film to know the remaining things and to experience the war between Vijay and Vijay.

Vijay has lived up to the expectations. He looks stylish and handsome. He dons both the roles with style and ease, leaving his fans mesmerised. Talking about Shreya, one of the beautiful heroines of South Indian cinema, she simply lights the screen with her performance. Santhanam and Ashish Vidyarthi come tailor-made to their characters. Namitha has been used for an item number.

Director Bharathan is well aware with Vijay’s strengths. Though the idea of double role is not new, the director had made it interesting by conceiving interesting sequences. Balasubramaniam’s camera work is spectacular and has captured the scenic beauty of Phuket Island and other locations. AR Rahman’s music is outstanding. The songs, which are already topping the charts are sure to reach greater heights with the film has been released now.
