En Uyirinum Melana is a usual love story which Tamil cinema is seeing for ages. However, Director K R Jayaa takes a different route when he tries to narrate some of the sequences in an out-of-the box way.
Jeeva (Ajith Chandra) is the son of a business big gun (SP Balasubramaniam). He meets Priya (Radhika Menon) whe he is on a picnic to Kodaikanal along with his friends (Karunas and others). Immediately, Jeeva falls for her. Even after returning to Chennai, Jeeva is in the memories of the chirpy girl. Meanwhile, Priya's father, who is an investigating officer gets transfer to Chennai and they happen to stay opposite Jeeva's house.
As usual, Priya's father doesn't like the love affair of his daughter and arranges her marriage with his brother-in-law Vikram (Ranjith). How the pair united after some twists and turns is the second half.
Both new faces, Ajith Chandra and Radhika Menon had tried to live up to the characters. SP Balasubrahmaniam and Fathima Babu as the hero’s parents and Ravikumar as the girl's father are tailor made for such roles.
Selva’s cinematography comes as a saving grace for En Uyirinum Melana. The movie would have been much batter only if the director had concentrated in making the screenplay much interesting and racy.
En Uyirinum Melana -- Nothing but love.
