Murky mirage - Kaanal Neer

If you think that zamindhar stories are shown exit door in Kollywood, then the film you have to watch is Kaanal Neer. Chinni Jayanth, a well-known comedian of Tamil cinema, has tried the same as a director in this movie. And quite aware that what the output will be, Chinni has selected an apt title - Kaanal Neer.

Trying to present a serious movie on friendship, Chinni and new face Ritheesh have succeeded in giving a hip-roaring comedy film and tested the patience of audience in each and every scene. Besides wielding the megaphone, Chinni has also essayed the lead role as a son of a zamindhar in the movie.

J K Ritheesh, grandson of State Minister Subha Thangavelan, makes his debut in the movie. The new face steals the show in many scenes, which portray him as no inferior to any of the Superstars of Kollywood. (You can watch Kaanal Neer trailers in television channels or advertisements in dailies if you still have doubt). Newcomer Manisha plays the heroine.

Pari (Chinni Jayanth), is the only heir to a rich zamindhar (Devan). After losing his parents in an accident, his greedy and evil uncle Durai Singam (Ambuli) takes care of Chinni with an intension to enjoy Pari's wealth. For this, Durai Singam makes Pari as a lunatic by mixing something in jaggery and making him to eat it daily. ('Mama, vellam kudu', this repeated dialogue of Chinni in the move would be the slogan of youth for a long time)

However, Pari's friends Rajavel (Ritheesh) and Sakthi (Sarathjith) take care of him and spend all their time with Pari. Meanwhile, to continue with enjoying the wealth, Durai Singam plans to get Pari married to Lakshmi (Manisha), a young girl living in the village. How Rajavelu, Sakthi and Lakshmi cure Pari of his mental illness and teach Durai Singam a lesson forms the crux. Also in the cast includes Sathyapriya, Alex and Scissor Manohar. Though Chinni Jayanth had performed well in acting, his attempts as a director proves futile.
