After dishing out comedy films like Devathaiyai Kanden and Thiruvilayadal Arambam, director Boopathy Pandian has tried his hands at action for the first time with Malaikottai, however, without letting down his penchant for comedy. The Vishal starrer movie, packed with necessary commercial ingredients, makes audience glue to their seats, so to say.
Known as an action hero so far, Vishal has proved in the film that he can perform at ease in comedy too. His clean and noteworthy performance makes the movie strong like a mountain, reflecting its title.
Anbu (Vishal) is a happy go-lucky youth, who enjoys every moment of life. After crossing swords with a local politico, he is forced to leave Pudukottai on a conditional bail.
He comes to Tiruchi, where he meets Malar (Priya Mani) and falls for her. Meanwhile, Tiruchi is a fiefdom of Palani (Devaraj), a powerful politico. Anbu earns the wrath of Palani when he attempts to save Malar from a difficult situation. WIth Palani not ready to leave Anbu, how he emerged succesfull forms the crux.
Ashish Vidyarthi, playing the role of Vishal's uncle makes us to laugh through his comical ability. Similar is the performance of Oorvasi too. Playing the role of Malar, Priyamani's performance is quiet contrast when compared to Paruthi Veeran. Kanal Kannan's stunts and Mani Sharma's music are major highlights of the movie.
In short, Malaikottai is a fort of success for Vishal and Bhoopathi Pandian.
