Following Azhagia Tamil Magan, Puli Varudhu is yet another film to bite the Extra Sensory Perception (ESP) bug, as this Jithan Ramesh starrer too revolves around the same plot, which the Deepavali release of Vijay relied on.
However, the film fails to strike the right chord, thus proving one more debacle for Jithan Ramesh, who have been longing for a super hit, ever since he started his career in the tinsel town. Debuntant director G V Kumar, who appears in the climax and requests the audience to bear for the mistakes in his maiden attempt, can be bequeathed with what he asked, considering that this is his first film.
Ramesh (Jithan Ramesh) is a carefree guy. One day, he visualises a beautiful girl in his dream (Mallika Kapoor) and falls for her. With everything going smooth and the lovers heading towards marriage, Ramesh’s father (Manivannan) and friend (Karunas) die suddenly.
Ramesh understands that he has ESP power and finds the sequences of his dream coming true. How he marries his ladylove without taking toll of the lives of his father and friend forms the crux of the predictable film.
Ramesh is good in dance sequences. Though he tries to give his best in dubbing, his voice is in a dire need of better modulation. There is nothing different in Mallika Kapoor’s role. Karunas steal the show in many scenes with his comical sense.
Srikanth Deva’s songs and rerecording are no strengths for the film. The director, who had concentrated on a different storyline fails to pass the litmus test in screenplay. Predictable sequences make the film slow and somber.
Puli Varudhu- No need to hide
