Is there any compulsion for a prodigy to make film in the same way as that of his mentor? No, says debutant director K R Senthilnathan, a one time assistant of S J Suryah, who is known for his romantic flicks. As a welcome change, Senthilnathan has come out with a horror film, thus providing relief from run-of-the-mill films.
Sivi revolves around a young photographer (Yogi) and his lover (Jayashree), who comes across a script. They also learn it is the spirit of a college student (Anuja), whose life was ruined by Yogi and his friends when he was studying in the college. Did the couple escape from the spirit forms the crux.
The movie is technically sleek with all the lead actors fit well to their characters. Dharan, who entered into filmdom as a music director in Parijatham had proved him once again in Sivi with his stunning background score.
Director Senthilnathan deserves a pat for his guts to come out with a different stoyline. However, Sivi would have been more thrilling had the director avoided unnecessary comedy sequences.
Sivi- Horror personified.
