A boon of a kind Thavam

Thavam is a kind of break that Arun Vijay deserved for years, as the talented actor
lacked hits in his list. Arjun, known for his action roles, has opted for a romantic entertainer as a producer in Thavam. A remake of Telugu blockbuster Itlu Sravani Subramanyam,
Thavam revolves around a man and a woman who takes extreme decision to end their lives.

The movie starts with Sumathi (Arpitha) and Subramaniam (Arun Vijay), meeting at a suicide point after deciding to end their lives. They describe each other about their past.
Nagging relatives for her money drive Sumathi to suicide whereas a friend who had cheated him forms the reason behind the suicidal attempt of Subramaniam.

After the meeting, the duo come forward to help each other in fulfilling their wishes. Meanwhile, Subramaniam gets a good job and Sumathi's relatives take her back to the home. Did they reunite forms the crux.

This film gives Arun enough chance to prove himself as a hero. His does a decent job. Arpitha looks pretty average and natural. Her role in the film is a kind of de-glamorized one. She did well within the limitations. Janakaraj, Vadivelu and 'Venniradai' Murthy are also there in the movie.

D Imman's music is nothing more than the average. Director Sakthi Paramesh has succeded to an extent in recreating the magic of the original. The movie would have been more interesting, had the tempo maintained till the end.
