Two men joining together to direct a movie is not a regular happening in Tamil cinema. And the duo coming out with a different knot too is not a common scene here. Breaking all the clichés, Haricharan and Newton have
tested waters with Thoovanam, a film which is filled with reality, thus coming closer to the life.
Thoovanam is all about Karthi (Adhitya) and his love with Anu (Nethra).
Hailing from a rich family, Karthi falls in love with Anu, who in turn
rejects him. When a dejected Karthi decides to end his life, his friends
save him.
Anu, who comes to know the extreme act of Karthi decides to love him.
However, Karthi's mind makes a makeover at this point of time and wants to
deceive Anu. What's next is an interesting climax, as touchy as a drizzle,
quite appropriate to the title.
Adhithya, a television actor and Nethra, a college goer play the roles with
comfort and ease. Their on screen chemistry works out well. Madhu Ambat's
camera deserve kudos, as the well known cinematographer proves himself once
again in the film. Music of Issac Thomas too is refreshing. Directors Newton
and Hariharan have presented a gentle breeze with Thoovanam.
