It is a doubt that any other movie could match Urchagam in marking the comeback of a host of talented people, for the film is all set to turn a fresh leaf in the careers of its director, producers, music director, hero and the heroine.

Back after a sabbatical, director Ravichandran, actor Nanda, actress Sherin, music director Ranjit Barot and producers GV Films are back on track in making the movie. And it is vivid that all the above had tried their best to reposition themselves through Urchagam.

Reflecting the title, the movie too is filled with enthusiasm, energy and exuberance. With friendhip, love and romance occupying the first half, the tough fight between Nanda and Dinesh Lamba fills the second half. However, the cliched climax gives the audience a deja vu feeling, one can say.

The film is about Ganesh (Nanda), a youth from Pallavaram and his friend Jency (Sherin). At the time when Ganesh wants to express his love to Jency, she tells him that she is going to marry Nicholas (Dinesh Lamba), a rich businessman in London, who had sponsored her mother's operation. However, after the engagement, life becomes miserable for Jency as a result of the sadistic activities of Nicholas. How Ganesh saves her forms the climax.

Nanda's performance is improving from film after film. In some scenes, he even makes us to wonder. As usual, Sherin is cool and beautiful. Dinesh Lamba fits well to the character of a rich youngman. Vivekh has added the right flavour to the script.

Coming to the technical part, Ranjit Barot, who had created waves with his music in VIP has once again tried to repeat the magic in Urchagam. Similarly, cinematography and editing are also on par with other technically rich movies. In short, Urchagam is a reprinted visiting card for Ravichandran.
