Ajith's Varalaaru
is a family entertainer with songs, comedy and
action scenes that will appeal to Ajit fans. Among
the Diwali releases,"Varalaaru" is likely
to take a good opening. The story of Varalaaru
may have been told a hundred times in Tamil cinema
history- a rich father, who does on one son and
throws the other one out of the house.
The rest
of the film is all about why the son wants to
take revenge on his father.
But the difference here is that Ajith has played
a triple role which is probably the saving grace
for the film. Ajith's stupendous acting is the
only reason that this film has to be watched.
His portrayal of three different characters is
tremendous. From the pipe-smoking patriarch Shivashankar
to the disturbed youth Jeeva to the suave Vishnu,
Ajith's acting is commendable.Asin has a pleasing
on screen presence and Kanika as the mother has
limited scope for performance. The film which
has music by A.R.Rahman.Songs is average.But re-recording
is excellent.Film directed by K.S.Ravikumar. This
is Ravikumar's film for Ajith.
