July 23, 2008:

The Income Tax Department will operate Special Return Receipt counters from 26 to 31 July on Nungambakkam High Road to help tax payers of Chennai and Tambaram jurisdiction to file their returns with ease.

Additional Commissioner of IT (Headquarters) P Selvaganesh said in a release that the counters will operate from 9.45 am to 5.30 pm every day, including Saturday and Sunday. The last date for filing returns is 31 July.

The department would operate special counters for senior citizens and the physically challenged. Separate counters are being set up to accept bulk returns. Additional counters are being opened at Tambaram Income Tax office, the release added.
