Tiruchirapalli, Nov 14 : Members of the Jamaat-E-Islami Hind, (JEISH) who embarked on a peace and justice 'yatra' from November 9 from Kanniyakumari were given warm reception when they reached here today, by the local unit of the JEISH and other Islamic Leaders.

Addressing a press conference here, JEISH state unit Spokesman S N Sikkandar said the objective of the yatra was to have peace and justice.

He said there should be a high level enquiry into the communal clashes and terrorist attacks taking place since the last ten years and added the real culprits should be kept behind bars.

Recommendations of the National Police Commission should be implemented, he said and demanded atleast 25 per cent Reservation be given to minorities in police jobs.

JEISH state unit Vice President Hanifa Mandayee said so far the 'yatra' had crossed Nagercoil, Tirunelveli, Kadayanallur, Virudhunagar, Madurai, Thanjavur, Kumbakonam and recieved overwhelming response from the people.

After passing through Karur, Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Salem, Dharmapuri, Vellore, Vaniyambadi, Tirupattur, Krishnagiri, Ambur, Puducherry the yatra would reach Chennai on November 24 where a memorandum would be submitted to the state government, he said.
