Krishnagar, Nov 20 : A BSF jawan, who shot at a girl at Chapara area under Hatkhola police station in Nadia district, has been suspended.

District Magistrate (DM) Omkar Singh Meena said here today that Shalya Kumar, a constable of the BSF's 42nd battalion, shot at Khukuli Khatun last evening while she was returning home from school.

Hearing the commotion, locals rushed to the spot and found the injured girl lying on the ground. They immediately rushed her to the Krishnagar hospital.

Later, she was referred to Kolkata but she died on the way.

An investigation was started, the DM said.

The constable had been suspended, sources said.
