New Delhi, Nov 19 : Country's largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki India Ltd (MSIL) today clarified that it has not cut its production at its Gurgaon facility, saying it is not exploiting the expanded capacity in the wake of slump in the auto industry.

''There has been no production cut at our Gurgaon facility, it is only some readjustment of production capabilities which means that we are not utilising our expanded facility for our production usage ,'' MSIL Executive Officer (Marketing and Sales) Mayank Parekh said while talking to reporters on the sidelines of the launch of 'A star'.

Earlier, it was reported that the company has cut the production at its Gurgaon plant due to the decreasing demand of the products.

''We are now operating what we call is two and a half shift,'' Mr Parekh said.

He, however, admitted that the entire auto industry has been witnessing an overall slowdown as finance is an issue, but the company is looking at other areas to boost up the sales.

''We are eyeing new customers like, government officials, PSU's to increase our sales,'' he said.

''We are waiting for the state governments to implement the Wage Board which will further boost our sales due to the incentives that we offer,'' Mr Parekh said, adding that the company is also in talks with certain PSU's like ONGC to offer its cars.

Giving details, he said in the first seven months of the previous year the company had sold about 16,450 units which during this year has increased to 30,000 units.

Similarly, after implementing of the Wage Board, the demand among the government employees has also increased.
