May 15, 2008: Janata Party president Subramanian Swamy on Wednesday congratulated Tamilnadu Social Welfar Minister Poongothai Aladi Aruna for submitting resignation after ‘courageously admitting’ to her telephone conversation with the Director of Vigilance and Anti-corruption Upadhyaya.

In a statement, he appealed to Union Shipping Minister T R Baalu to follow her example and resign forthwith as he too was facing allegations that he had ‘presurissed’ oil firms to act in favour of companies reportedly owned by his sons.

It is to be noted that Janata Party president Subramanian Swamy on Monday released audio CDs of a telephonic conversation between Poongothai and DVAC chief Upadhyaya.
