New Delhi, June 1 (IANS) Tata Motors Friday reported a four percent rise in total sales, including exports, in May that stood at 64,347 units against the like period of the previous financial year.
The company's domestic sales, including commercial and passenger vehicles for the period under review, rose six percent at 60,128 units as compared to May last year, the company said in a statement.
In exports, the company reported a 24 percent decline in the month under review at 4,219 units as compared to 5,534 units shipped out in May 2011.
According to the company, sales of its commercial vehicles segment grew by seven percent at 39,625 units compared to 37,170 units sold in May last year.
Light commercial vehicle sales stood at 27,174 units, a growth of 26 percent, as compared to 21,638 units sold in the corresponding period of last year.
The company saw passenger vehicles sales and distribution offtake of 20,503 units in May, up six percent against 19,401 units sold in the corresponding month of last year.
Sales of entry-level hatchback car Nano rose 31 percent at 8,507 units compared to 6,515 units sold in May last year.
The Indica sales stood at 5,467 units, lower by 1 percent from 5,497 units sold in May, last year.
