Central, State govts cheating peple: V'Kanth

Members of the opposition Desiya Dravida Murpokku Kazhagam (DMDK) led by founder president Vijayakanth on Friday staged a slogan shouting demonstration in front of the Railway junction in Tiruchi condemning the Centre for hiking petrol prices steeply.

Condemning the price hike as well as the shortage of petrol, Vijayakanth alleged that the Central government deliberately created a fuel shortage a few days back to force the people to accept the hike.

Both the Central and State governments passed the buck on to each other to prevent being targeted by the public. For instance, the Central government put the blame on the oil companies for the relentless price hike, whereas the State government made the Tamil Nadu Electricity Regulation Committee responsible for increasing electricity charge. Both governments were taking people for a massive ride, he said.

Vijayakanth slammed the AIADMK government for 'wasting' crores of rupees on advertisements about its achievements. He pointed out that advertisements had been given in national newspapers on the achievements of the Jayalalithaa Govern
