CM orders bakery in Puzhal prison

Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa today announced the setting up of a modern bakery inside the Puzhal prison. She said the share in the profits of the unit would go towards inmates preparing the food items.

According to an official release, the Chief Minister sanctioned Rs 45 lakh for this purpose and said the items made at the bakery would be sold in the market.

Of the total profit earned from sales, 20 per cent would be deposited in each of the accounts of the prison inmates, the government and prison employees welfare fund, the press release said.
