The 110th birth anniversary of former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, K Kamaraj, was celebrated across the state on Sunday.
The state, led by social welfare minister B. Valarmathi, paid floral tribute to the leader at his portrait in Chennai.
State ministers too joined Valarmathi. Union shipping minister G.K. Vasan, who was accompanied by Congress leaders, paid floral tributes to a portrait of Kamaraj at Marina.
Kamaraj is credited with ushering in education revolution in the state by increasing student intake in schools by introducing the revolutionary free noon-meal scheme.
Widely respected across the political spectrum both in the state and national politics, Kamaraj was known for his simplicity in public life.
