An abandoned box on the Chennai-Arakonam EMU train caused a bomb scare among commuters at Avadi railway station on Thursday morning.
In the wake of Wednesday's blasts in Pune, commuters became wary when a box was found lying unattended. Government railway police and Railway Protection Force personnel cordoned off the area and opened the box. They found it belonged to a train guard who had forgotten to take it while returning from duty.
Railway police cordoned off the areas and Railway Protection Force personnel opened the box with the help of the bomb disposal squad and sniffer dogs.
The box was found to belong to a railway guard who had forgotten to take it. The guard, Rangabashiyam, had lodged a complaint with Chennai Beach Police. |
