Normal life in Tamil Nadu remained unaffected as the Bharat Bandh called by the BJP-led NDA to condemn the unprecedented hike in petrol prices evoked poor response in the State.
According to reports, BJP and Left party leaders were arrested when they staged rail roko, road blockade and protest demonstrations in several parts of Tamil Nadu, including Chennai.
It is said that six buses were damaged in stone throwing in Kanyakumari district. A report said one of the damaged bus belonged to Kerala State Transport Corporation which was entering the district, when it was stoned by miscreants.
In Chennai, BJP State President Pon Radhakrishnan and more than 100 BJP workers were arrested when they attempted to stage a road roko and demonstration on the arterial Anna salai. |
