Dec 26, 2009: When Vandavasi DMK legislator Jayaraman passed away paving way for abyelection, the ruling party fielded his son Kamalakannan as itscandidate considering him a safe bet and tasted landslide victory.
On Friday, DMK repeated its act once again by announcing thecandidature of P Inbasekaran for the Pennagaram bypoll.
Inbasekaran isthe son of K N Periannan, whose death on December 1 resulted in thebyelection.According to reports, Inbasekaran’s name was hanpicked by DMKpresident and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi himself, as hefelt fielding the party veteran’s son, who is a known face in theconstituency, would increase the chance for winning.
Inbasekaran was earlier made the district in-charge of the partyaffairs, immediately after his father passed away due to illness. ThePennagaram bypoll on January 20 will be the eleventh byelection in the
current Assembly.
